At Westlock Family Dental, we aim to provide clear information on costs, insurance coverage, and payment expectations before treatment begins. Understanding the financial side of your dental care is an important part of making informed decisions, and our team is happy to answer questions at any point.
Westlock Family Dental follows the Alberta Provincial Dental Fee Guide. We also accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP).
Where permitted by your plan, Westlock Family Dental offers direct billing to your insurance provider. This means we submit your claim electronically on your behalf following your appointment. Direct billing availability depends on your specific insurance provider and plan.
Dental insurance coverage varies significantly between providers and individual plans. The services covered, the percentage of costs reimbursed, and any applicable annual maximums or waiting periods are determined by your plan — not by our clinic. We encourage patients to contact their insurance provider before their appointment to confirm coverage details and remaining annual benefits.
Any portion of treatment costs not covered by your insurance plan remains the responsibility of the patient and is due at the time of service. This may include amounts exceeding your annual maximum, services not covered under your plan, or any applicable deductibles. Our team will provide an estimate of expected costs before treatment proceeds; however, final reimbursement amounts are determined by your insurance provider and may vary.
For certain dental treatments, a predetermination may be submitted to your insurance provider upon request. A predetermination is an estimate of how your plan may respond to a proposed treatment and can help you better understand potential coverage before committing to care.
Processing times for predeterminations vary and may take anywhere from a few minutes to several weeks, depending on the provider, the specific plan, and the service being requested. Coverage decisions are made by the insurance provider and are subject to the terms of your individual plan.
Following treatment, we submit insurance claims electronically on your behalf where direct billing is permitted by your plan. Any portion not covered by insurance remains the patient’s responsibility and is due at the time of service.
